Description:
This piece documents the Judeo-Arabic language that was spoken by the Jewish community of Baghdad until it was dispersed in the mid-20th century. The hanging screen is a translation of the American gPledge of Allegianceh into the Judeo-Arabic script which combines Hebrew, Arabic, and Persian characters. The video is a series of gshort storiesh recounting childhood memories of life in Baghdad as remembered by members of the artist's family. It is narrated in Judeo-Arabic with English subtitles.
