Do You Remember? 2005

Public Art Project, Fairfax Branch Library, Los Angeles, California
Dimensions:
28f x 15f
Media:
Acrylic mural with hand lettering. Windows of sandblasted, etched and carved glass.
Description:
This is a public art project in a part of Los Angeles that has been experiencing a tremendous amount of development in recent years resulting in radical changes to the neighborhood. Many residents have lived there for many years and have seen the architectural landmarks disappear. The library has been a gathering spot for the neighborhood through these changes, so I worked with patrons to collect their memories of the library and neighborhood. The project covers one interior wall of the library, and features a wall mural and 3 large arched windows of etched and carved glass, combining views of the Fairfax area over the last 100 years. Written memories of the area and library collected from the patrons are hand lettered onto the mural.
