These pictures were made to accompany the video installation Small Stories in a Language I Donft Understand (2005), and also harken back to the installation The Promise (1990) which made use of the Pledge of Allegiance translated into Judeo-Arabic. For these images I crumpled up the translation into various forms and photographed the text.
